Catalin Zidaru is an Emmy Award winning television Director and Producer. He has directed over 150 episodes of the PBS national show “Theater Talk.” For the past five years Zidaru has directed conversation and performance pieces for the lauded, nationally distributed “Times Talks” the video presentation arm of the venerable New York Times. In hard news Zidaru directed “Evening news with Mary Alice Williams,” “In Your Neighborhood” at NJTV News. He is also adept and experienced in political talk shows, having directed “Michael Aron’s Reporter’s Roundtable & On the Record,” “POTUS 2016 with Brian Lehrer – 2016 Presidential Election Coverage, “Brian Talks New York,” “NY Times – Sam Robert’s Close UP,” “Laura Flanders Show,” “Open Mind w/ Alexander Heffner“ and various townhall and debates for NY1 Spectrum.
Zidaru flexed some creative muscle as Director of the Kreyolfest – Haitian festival, as Director of the PBS national show, “Science goes to the Movies,” and as 1st AD on “Hellhounds,” directed by Ricky Schroder.
Additional awards include the Mark of Excellence Award from The Society of Professional Journalists, Best Producer Award from the Independent Film Channel.
Zidaru hails from Romania with over 10yrs of experience in live tv & sitcoms. He has an MFA in Television Production from Brooklyn College and now makes his home in New York City.
