Catalin’s Bio

Catalin Zidaru is an Emmy Award winning television Director and Producer. He has directed over 150 episodes of the PBS national show “Theater Talk.” For the past five years Zidaru has directed conversation and performance pieces for the lauded, nationally distributed “Times Talks” the video presentation arm of the venerable New York Times. In hard news Zidaru directed “Evening news with Mary Alice Williams,” “In Your Neighborhood” at NJTV News. He is also adept and experienced in political talk shows, having directed “Michael Aron’s Reporter’s Roundtable & On the Record,” “POTUS 2016 with Brian Lehrer – 2016 Presidential Election Coverage, “Brian Talks New York,” “NY Times – Sam Robert’s Close UP,” “Laura Flanders Show,” “Open Mind w/ Alexander Heffner“ and various townhall and debates for NY1 Spectrum.

Zidaru flexed some creative muscle as Director of the Kreyolfest – Haitian festival, as Director of the PBS national show, “Science goes to the Movies,” and as 1st AD on “Hellhounds,” directed by Ricky Schroder.

Additional awards include the Mark of Excellence Award from The Society of Professional Journalists, Best Producer Award from the Independent Film Channel.

Zidaru hails from Romania with over 10yrs of experience in live tv & sitcoms. He has an MFA in Television Production from Brooklyn College and now makes his home in New York City.

Hamlet – The Heights Players

The Heights Players presented William Shakespeare’s family drama; HAMLET Prince of Denmark under the artistic direction of Robert J. Weinstein opened on March 4th 2011. The entire show was videotaped live as a multi-camera production that I co-directed with Jim Sayegh. Here are a few snippets :

STOCKHAUSEN’s “Kontakte,” performed by Iktus Percussion  plus a short film on Stockhausen’s infamous ‘Helicopter’ quartet  Whitman Hall stage, Brooklyn College. Video Produced and Directed by Catalin Zidaru in a live six multi-camera switch .

RENGLE

Emil Rengle is a Romanian Choreographer, Dancer & Creative Director and winner of the Romania’s Got Talent 2018.He started dancing at the early age of 6 and by the age of 18 he had become one of Romania’s best dancer and Choreographer, after which he decided to take things to another level and moved his residence to the capital city: Bucharest.Slowly making his way to the top, Emil’s first year in Bucharest was focused more on dance crews than artists, thus participating and winning the national championship HipHopInternational, choreographing the first Romanian dance crew that went to Las Vegas, USA at the Worlds Hip Hop Championships, where he shared the stage with huge names in the world wide dance industry such as: Request Dance Crew and Poreotics.In 3 short years, Emil went from the little wonder-boy to Romania’s most requested choreographer. Between the ages 20 and 23, he worked with all the big names in the Romanian music industry such as: Alex Velea, INNA, Antonia, Corina, Alexandra Stan, Loredana Groza, Dj Andi, Fly Project and Anda Adam. He made his voice heard even in the TV industry, as he choreographed ground-breaking shows for Dancing with the Stars and Romania Got Talent.He spent time learning dance techniques in L.A and New York, from big names in the dance community like Sheryl Murakami(Beyonce’s Choreographer), Nika Kljun(Kylie Minogue), Kyle Hanagami and many others.Today, Emil spends his time choreographing stages and music videos for all the A-List Artists in the country,teaching and touring the world while creating unique pieces for every singer he works with.
